Safe Schools

Arthur Voaden Secondary School

2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on building students’ conflict resolution skills and access to mental and community health resources.

We are doing this to build on our successes last year in offering extracurricular activity options and build healthy relationships.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Promote and advertise our school support team, including social work and public health nurse
  • Enlist the support of community organizations such as St. Leonard’s for proactive work with our intermediate students
  • Explicitly teach skills and use common language for expectations

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about how / where they can get mental health support
  • Try talking at home with your child about how they can resolve conflict (at home and at school) in positive and respectful ways
  • Check out this resource about mental health and addiction support
